Nahla Ouard, PhD.
Dr. Nahla Ouard obtained her bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from IbnZohr university before completing her Euro-Mediterranean Master’s degree in Neuroscienceand biotechnology at Cadi Ayyad university, Marrakech in 2019. She then pursued herdoctoral studies at Sultan Moulay Sliman university, receiving her PhD in animal physiologyand neuroscience in 2025. Her doctoral research, conducted within the MultidisciplinaryLaboratory of Research and Innovation (MLRI), investigated the complex neurobehavioraland morphofunctional alterations in experimental models of both acute and chronic hepaticencephalopathy.
Working with the ATRES research team (Technological applications of environmentalresources and health), Dr Ouard interests in deciphering the regional heterogeneity ofastrocytes response and the pathophysiological pathways involved in hepatic encephalopathy. Her work uses morphometric approaches and brain histology to explore how specific corticaland subcortical regions respond to hepatic insult. In Addition to her work on HE, Dr Ouardhas contributed to various studies in neurotoxicity and behavioral pharmacology remainingdedicated to uncovering the fundamental neurobiological processes that drive regional brainvulnerability.
